BLOGThe Facts About Influencer Marketing

You’ve been interested about influencer marketing because you’ve heard some good things and people you trust like the idea. But you still have questions and you aren’t sure if it’s a good time to get starter. First, you need to understand exactly what influencer marketing is and how it can benefit you. There are people on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and others that have hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers.

These people can influence consumers to take an interest in your products or services. It’s an interesting concept and it does work. However, there are a few things that must be done in order for it to work. The first is that the influencer needs at least tens of thousands of followers who organically followed the profile based on an interest relevant to your business. What does that mean? If someone has built their followers up by talking about politics and you sell power tools, that really doesn’t help you. However, if they’ve built up their following with DIY home improvement videos then that’s exactly the type of audience you want to target.

The next thing to look at is the type of engagement that the person is generating. If they have a million followers but see less than 5% engagement on their posts, then the profile isn’t as valuable as you once thought it to be. You want to see at least 20% engagement. You also need to take a look at the type of content the person shares.

Are they posting videos that you can utilize to get your brand out there or are they posting funny pictures that are designed to get shares and likes? If it’s funny pictures it’s probably not going to help you a lot.

If you want to give influencer marketing a try the best way to do it is it start with a dedicated link for the person. If they can prove that they can drive traffic and even sales to your business then you can give them money for their enforcement as well as a commission on all the sales. That’s a great way to test their value and see what they can do.
