BLOGHow To Hire The Right SEO Firm

Selecting a SEO firm isn’t easy. The second you start looking you find dozens claiming to get amazing results. Prices range from $200 a month to $2,000. You aren’t sure what it would cost or even who is the most qualified. You also aren’t sure who is going to be the most reliable as far as answering phone calls or emails. It’s a tough decision and one you cannot make immediately. This commitment will take months, not weeks, to produce anything that you can measure and that’s why the more time you put into choosing the right firm, the better.

What To Look For

There are several things you need to look at when selecting an SEO agency to determine which is the best to go with. Starting with these questions will make your decision easier:

  1. How much? It’s a fair question to ask how much this service will cost. You should be expecting anything in the range of $700-$2,000 a month for quality work. Anything below that is not going to generate the rankings you are looking for.
  2. What verticals do you work with? If you are a health insurance company, then it’s a good idea to work with an agency that has experience working with other insurance companies. Asking about their experience is only expected and they should have case studies available to back up their claims.
  3. What are your qualifications? Are they Google certified? What training have they had? How do you know that they can do what they claim?
  4. What actual work goes into it each month? Are you paying to just see some rankings improved or are they going to do real work? How much content is going to be produced? Will they do off-page or on-page work?
  5. What kind of reporting do you offer? Again, if you are paying all that money each month you need to see some kind of reliable reporting. This should include information about the links built, the content created, traffic to the site and a ranking report.
  6. How do you determine keywords? This is important because you cannot just select the most obvious keywords, but you also need to be able to find ones that generate real traffic but also are less competitive. This takes real research and time which is why you cannot expect it immediately.
  7. Do you offer any other services? This is another important question. Why? If you are talking to a company that only offers SEO, guess what they will try to sell you? However, if you are talking to an agency that offers over a dozen marketing services, you can bet that they will try and sell you what they believe will actually work and work within your budget.

If you ask these questions and more when you start talking to a new SEO company, then you can be confident that you are making the right decision. Take your time, don’t rush and identify which brand is going to do what it takes to have you with them for years, not months.
